Juventus have taken the lead in the race to sign Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, but the Italian giants are still waiting for a crucial face-to-face meeting with the player's agent, Pini Zahavi. As the Polish forward weighs his options ahead of a potential summer move, the situation remains fluid—and it's a story that's keeping Serie A fans on the edge of their seats.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, via CalcioMercato, Juventus have edged ahead of AC Milan in the pursuit of Lewandowski through preliminary talks with Zahavi. However, the in-person meeting that could determine whether the 36-year-old actually makes the switch to Italy has yet to be scheduled. Milan had initially moved first, hoping to replicate the kind of savvy deal that brought Luka Modric to Serie A, but Juventus have since overtaken them in the pecking order.

Lewandowski's current contract at Barcelona runs until June 30, making him a free agent this summer. While the Catalan club holds a renewal clause in the agreement, they have respected an informal understanding to negotiate with the player before activating it unilaterally. This leaves the door open for a potential exit from the Camp Nou, where Lewandowski has been a key figure since joining in 2022.

The Poland international and his family are reportedly keen to gather all available proposals before making what's described as a "life decision" as much as a footballing one. Beyond Juventus and Milan, offers from Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer and clubs in the Middle East are also on the table. A resolution is not expected until after Barcelona officially wrap up their La Liga title challenge, meaning this saga could drag into the summer months.

For now, Juventus fans can dream of adding a world-class striker to their ranks—but the real action is still waiting to happen off the pitch.
