Juventus may be hitting a few roadblocks in their contract negotiations with star striker Dusan Vlahovic, but the club is far from out of options. In fact, they might just have their most powerful weapon yet waiting in the wings.
The Serbian international's current deal runs out on June 30, leaving his future up in the air. While big-name clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Milan have been linked with a move, Juventus remains the only team actively at the negotiating table.
Here's where it gets interesting. Over the past few months, Vlahovic's father, Milos, has stepped into the driver's seat, taking over from the player's former agent, Darko Ristic. And according to reports, Vlahovic Sr. is pushing hard for his son to stay in Turin—music to the ears of manager Luciano Spalletti.
But despite five meetings already, the two sides haven't been able to find common ground. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus is sticking to their salary cap, offering Vlahovic a net annual salary of €7 million—the same as rising star Kenan Yildiz. However, there's a catch: no extravagant bonuses, commissions, or signing fees are on the table.
And while Yildiz signed a long-term deal through 2031, Vlahovic is only being offered a shorter extension, running until 2027 or 2028. That's a tough sell for a player of his caliber.
Still, Juventus isn't backing down. Reports suggest the club is planning another meeting with Vlahovic Sr. in the coming days. And if that doesn't work, they're prepared to bring out the big guns.
Enter John Elkann. The Exor CEO and Juventus majority owner has become increasingly involved in the club's day-to-day operations—and he's developed a strong working relationship with Spalletti. Given the manager's desperation to keep Vlahovic in Turin, Elkann could step in personally to sway the negotiations.
It's a move that worked before. Elkann played a key role in securing Yildiz's contract extension, and with the club's future on the line, don't be surprised if he takes center stage again. For now, all eyes are on that negotiating table—and the trump card Juventus is ready to play.
