Juventus are reportedly turning their attention to Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret as a potential backup plan in their quest for a new number one this summer. The Bianconeri are determined to overhaul their goalkeeping department following an inconsistent season from Michele Di Gregorio, while Mattia Perin has failed to convince as a long-term starter.

At the top of Juve's wish list is Liverpool's Alisson Becker—a familiar face who previously thrived under current Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti during their time together at Roma. The Brazilian is said to be open to a reunion, but prying him away from Anfield won't be easy. Liverpool may be reluctant to part with the 33-year-old, forcing Juventus to explore other options.

Enter Alex Meret. The 29-year-old Italian goalkeeper, a product of Udinese's youth system, joined Napoli in 2018 and played a pivotal role in their Scudetto triumphs in 2023 and 2025. However, this season has been a different story. After losing his starting spot to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic—who seized the opportunity following Meret's early-season injury—the Udine native has made just 10 appearances, conceding 15 goals and keeping only two clean sheets.

With his contract expiring next year, Napoli might be open to selling Meret this summer. But there's a catch: according to Il Mattino, the Partenopei have no intention of strengthening a direct rival. Reports indicate they swiftly shut the door on Juventus's inquiry, meaning if Meret does leave the Stadio Maradona, his next destination is likely to be abroad.

For Juventus, this pursuit highlights the delicate balancing act of the transfer market—chasing a world-class option like Alisson while keeping a close eye on more attainable alternatives. As the summer window approaches, all eyes will be on Turin to see who ends up between the sticks for the Bianconeri.
