Celtic loanee Julian Araujo has issued an emotional statement on social media after confirmation that his campaign has been cut short by injury…The Mexico international full-back featured 13 times across all competitions during his spell with the Scottish champions, notably netting a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

However, following confirmation from Martin O’Neill that a fresh injury sustained at Bournemouth has effectively ended his loan with the club, the 24-year-old has now responded publicly.

Taking to Instagram, Araujo shared a detailed message outlining his frustration at the setback while also expressing gratitude for his short time at the club.

O’Neill confirmed yesterday in his media conference that Araujo’s season is over. The interim Hoops boss said: “Unfortunately, he’s suffered another injury setback while under supervision, which is a big blow. We only learned about it today and it looks unlikely that he’ll feature again this season.”

Given Araujo’s injury, the 74 year-old also provided an update on Alistair Johnston who returned to Lennoxtown yesterday.
