Liverpool are reportedly preparing for life after Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian superstar confirming he'll leave Anfield this summer. The club's all-time great departs after a historic spell, leaving manager Arne Slot with the daunting task of replacing his goals, creativity, and commanding presence on the right flank.

On the latest episode of Media Matters for Anfield Index, journalists Dave Davis and Lewis Steele broke down Liverpool's shortlist of attacking reinforcements. Two names have emerged as serious contenders: RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande and Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola.

While Liverpool "obviously like" Diomande, Steele revealed there's hesitation over the price tag. "The word I have is that Liverpool are just a bit unsure whether to trigger an £85 million-ish fee for a player who, in the grand scheme of things, is relatively unproven," Steele explained. Despite Diomande's strong Bundesliga form, Steele questioned whether his numbers truly justify the pressure of replacing Salah at Anfield. "They're not like jump off the screen good," he noted, adding that whoever arrives will immediately be "built as the Mohamed Salah replacement."

Steele seemed more convinced by Barcola's profile. "I think Barcola would be a preferable target in that sense," he said. The French international's experience and style could make him a better fit for Slot's system. Interestingly, a potential transfer tug-of-war may work in Liverpool's favor: "A little birdie tells me that PSG quite like Diomande," Steele revealed. If PSG move for the Leipzig forward, it could open the door for Liverpool to land Barcola instead.

As the summer window approaches, Liverpool fans will be watching closely to see which star dons the famous red shirt next—and whether they can fill the enormous void left by Salah.
