When Stugotz left The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz for Fox Sports Radio, fans wondered who could possibly fill those oversized shoes. Enter Jonathan Zaslow—a Miami sports media veteran who's been a fixture on the scene for years, but he's quick to set the record straight: he's not trying to be anyone's replacement.

"I'm not Stugotz's replacement, I'm part of the cast," Zaslow explained on the latest episode of the Awful Announcing Podcast. "They've opened up the cast and I'm a cast member. But no, not Stugotz's replacement."

Zaslow's resume reads like a who's who of South Florida sports media. He's been the go-to voice for Miami Heat coverage, was there for the entire run of 790 The Ticket, and regularly hosts nationally on ESPN Radio. But in recent years, he's built a digital empire with Zaslow Show 2.0, and now he's taking his talents to one of sports media's most iconic shows.

Despite his deep roots, Zaslow admits nothing compares to the platform Le Batard's show provides. And while he knows the audience might see him as Stugotz's successor—"yes," he said without hesitation when asked—he's approaching the role on his own terms.

"They could compare me to him," Zaslow said of listeners. "But I think they know I'm not trying to do a Stugotz impression. So it's okay."

So how has Zaslow managed to win over Le Batard's notoriously passionate fanbase so quickly? The answer is refreshingly simple: he's just being himself. No character, no gimmicks, just genuine enthusiasm for the game.

"I think they probably like my energy. I come off generally happy," Zaslow said. "They see that I'm a pretty happy and positive person. I like being here, and I love sports. I'm pretty well-rounded, especially because of ESPN Radio."

In a world where sports media personalities often feel manufactured, Zaslow's authenticity is a breath of fresh air—and it's exactly what Le Batard's audience needed.
