The Eagles had been trying to get Jonathan Greenard for nearly two months, but the draft gave the team a great opportunity to make it happen. Not only did they include a pretty solid draft haul for the edge rusher, but Howie Roseman also worked out a new 4-year, $100 million deal (including $50 million guaranteed) to bring him to Philadelphia.

Greenard is considered by many an underappreciated pass rusher in his own right, and is someone who will mix in well with the bevy of talent already on the Eagles defensive roster. DC Vic Fangio will get to work with someone who has a lot of experience and can do some things to free up some of the other young rushers.

This move seems like a big box checked for Howie and Co. as they navigate the rest of the NFL Draft and other roster building in the weeks that follow.

What do you think of the trade? Are you happy the Eagles made the move? Let us know in the comments!

Here’s what some analysts from around the league had to say about it:

Jonathan Greenard had 12.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl in 2024, but a shoulder injury limited him to 12 games and three sacks last season, though his 13.5% pressure rate ranked No. 7 in the NFL. https://t.co/9uNgf8J5ew

I definitely love the Greenard move. He’ll be a great fit and really helps the rest of that room settle into roles they’re more suited to excel in, which is almost as important, in my opinion.

New #Eagles edge Jonathan Greenard has one of the best get-offs in the NFL, and has ranked near the top of quick pressures (under three seconds), per Next Gen Stats. Had 22 in 2025 and 28 in 2024, which ranked tied for 12th and 6th in the NFL, respectively.Sacks took a dip from… pic.twitter.com/iAO8KCvn9s

Jonathan Greenard was due a non-guaranteed $40 million over the next two years. The Eagles are giving him $50 million over the next two years—a $10 million raise—and guaranteeing all of it. https://t.co/lQhxreZs71

In Jonathan Greenard, the Eagles get a high-level pass rusher to replace Jaelan Phillips and join Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith. They paid for him with two 3rds and $25M/year, but the defense improved once the Eagles landed Phillips last year and Greenard gives them that…

Jonathan Greenard's pressure % in two seasons with the Vikings (16.7) ranks 18th among all DL and LBs, per TruMedia.Jaelan Phillips recorded pressures on 18.8% of his pass rush snaps with the Eagles last year.– Jalyx Hunt: 16.9– Nolan Smith: 15.4

Greenard's 80 pressures in 2024 ranked third behind only Myles Garrett and Trey Hendrickson. He also led the Vikings in pressures last season despite missing 5 games.– Only $50 million guaranteed– Eagles get a 3rd-round comp pick back for PhillipsGreat move. pic.twitter.com/znImkbg7Wv

Getting this move done (and cementing an extension) are both enormous wins for Philly.Greenard is a better version of Phillips, completes this front seven and helps keep Philly in championship contention https://t.co/P60YT7Rn12
