Jim Miller isn't done making history. At 42 years old, the UFC veteran just notched another submission victory—this time over Jared Gordon at UFC 328—and he's already looking ahead to even bigger challenges.
Miller already holds multiple UFC records, including the most fights in promotion history. After his 47th bout, he signed a new five-fight contract with one clear goal: reach 50 fights in the Octagon. It's a milestone that could stand forever, and Miller knows how rare it is to still be winning at this stage.
"It's a day-to-day thing," Miller said after his win. "There's this thing I deal with... a famous college professor once said it's not the years, it's the miles. I've got a lot of miles on the body. I want to get to 50, but I don't want anything stupid to happen."
Miller credits his training team for keeping him healthy and sharp. He believes too many careers end early due to preventable injuries in the gym, and he's determined to avoid that fate. "I want to get to 50 and then be able to sail off into the sunset."
But before he rides into that sunset, Miller has his eye on a blockbuster opponent. While he's never been one for loud callouts, he admits there's one name that would make for an unforgettable fight: Conor McGregor.
"I hear there's an Irishman looking for a fight," Miller said with a grin. The matchup would pit Miller's relentless grappling against McGregor's legendary striking—and it would undoubtedly be the biggest fight of Miller's career. For a fighter chasing 50 and looking to go out with a bang, there's no better way to cap off a legacy than by sharing the cage with one of the sport's biggest stars.
