Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has provided clarity on a key position battle, confirming that free-agent acquisition Cole Strange is the projected starter at right guard for the 2026 season.

Strange, who signed a two-year, $13 million deal this offseason, brings valuable familiarity with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel's system from their time together with the Miami Dolphins. This existing knowledge of the scheme is a significant factor in his early lead for the starting job.

"Yeah, that's where he's been playing," Harbaugh stated. "Familiarity and availability. As Mike was explaining the offense... you could see Cole Strange was really good at all the things they would be implementing."

However, Harbaugh was quick to emphasize that the competition is far from over. With the NFL Draft approaching and free agency ongoing, the offensive line roster is still taking shape. The coach made it clear he welcomes all challengers.

"Competing, starters? Yeah, sure," Harbaugh said. "Competitors welcome, you know how I feel about that. There's more to come."

This development marks a crucial step in rebuilding the Chargers' offensive front, a unit that will be vital for protecting the quarterback and establishing a dominant run game. For fans and fantasy managers alike, Strange's projected role is a key piece of the puzzle as the new-look Bolts prepare for the upcoming season.
