The New York Jets have officially closed the chapter on veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, as the signal-caller has found a new home in the NFC. After weeks of speculation, it became official on Monday afternoon: Taylor is signing with the Green Bay Packers, where he'll step into the role of backup to Jordan Love.

Taylor's tenure with the Jets was marked by professionalism and steady play. In six appearances during the 2025 season, the former Virginia Tech standout completed 59.7% of his passes, tallying 779 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions. While not a starter, he provided reliable depth—a quality the Packers were eager to secure after losing Malik Willis to the Miami Dolphins in free agency.

For the Jets, this move signals a clear shift in direction. Earlier this offseason, the team traded for veteran Geno Smith to serve as their 2026 starter, and head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey added former Clemson star Cade Klubnik in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. With Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe also on the roster, the writing was on the wall for Taylor's departure.

Though he's moving on, Taylor leaves behind a legacy of class and dedication. The Jets are building around a new quarterback room, but fans will remember Taylor as the ultimate professional who stepped up when called upon. We wish him nothing but the best as he dons the green and gold in Green Bay.
