The Jets are exploring the free agent market for a backup QB behind Geno Smith and have met with former Giants signal-caller, Russell Wilson.
Gang Green invited Wilson to their facility late Monday to discuss the potential role, according to SNY's Connor Hughes. Hughes notes that nothing is imminent regarding the Jets signing Wilson, but there's mutual interest.
Smith was a big proponent of the meeting, per Hughes. Smith, of course, backed up Wilson while the two were in Seattle from 2020-21.
Wilson is looking to enter his 15th season in the league after stints with the Seahawks, Broncos, Steelers and last season with the Giants. The Super Bowl winning quarterback played six games with Big Blue (three starts) and threw for 831 yards on a 58 percent completion percentage, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Wilson lost his first three starts with the Giants before being benched for Jaxson Dart.
Following the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets QB room includes Smith, Brady Cook, Bailey Zappe and fourth-round pick, Cade Klubnik.
