The Jets have options at kicker, but questions remain about who can deliver consistency when it matters most.

The New York Jets know better than most that a reliable kicker can make or break a season. For a franchise that has cycled through specialists like a revolving door, finding stability at this quietly crucial position has become an offseason priority.

After parting ways with Greg Zuerlein and watching veteran Nick Folk sign with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, the Jets are once again searching for a long-term solution. But this year, there's a different energy around the competition.

Special teams coordinator Chris Banjo recently shared his excitement about the open battle, making it clear the team is embracing the process. "We're looking forward to seeing these guys compete," Banjo said, highlighting a group that includes Cade York, international prospect Lenny Krieg, and undrafted rookie Will Ferrin as key contenders.

On paper, York looks like the early favorite. The former Cleveland Browns draft pick has NFL experience and a powerful leg, including a career-long 59-yard field goal. But his 73.3% career accuracy raises questions. Can he deliver when the pressure is highest?

Krieg brings a different story. A former soccer player who spent the 2025 season developing on Atlanta's practice squad, he offers raw upside and an intriguing athletic background—even if he has yet to kick in a regular-season NFL game.

Then there's Ferrin, whose college résumé might quietly make him the steadiest option. After transferring from Boise State to BYU, he drilled 58 field goals over three seasons, including a career-long 56-yarder last year. Consistency has been his calling card.

There may not be a proven star in the room yet, but the Jets have something they've lacked for years: genuine competition. For a team searching for answers, that's a solid place to start.
