Jeff Teague has a bold idea for the Golden State Warriors: trade Draymond Green for Joel Embiid. On a recent episode of the Club 520 Podcast, the former NBA guard floated the proposal as a way to maximize Stephen Curry's remaining championship window.
"They're going to trade Draymond," Teague said. "This is just me thinking out loud. They're gonna trade Draymond and somebody else. Go for Embiid, bro. I'm thinking you've got to make a splash."
Teague's logic is simple: Curry's prime won't last forever, and the Warriors need more than minor tweaks to return to title contention. Embiid, a former MVP, would give Golden State a dominant interior scorer and a completely new offensive dimension alongside Curry. Green's contract also makes him a natural trade chip, as his salary helps match the numbers in a blockbuster deal.
The catch? Embiid is one of the league's biggest injury risks. He's tied to a massive long-term contract and has a history of playoff setbacks that raise serious durability concerns. Teague acknowledges the gamble: "You can't get Giannis. You can't get Kawhi. You've got to get somebody who is effective for Steph."
A healthy Embiid paired with Curry would be a nightmare for opponents. But if Embiid can't stay on the floor, the Warriors risk losing Green, assets, depth, and chemistry for a star who might not be available when it matters most. The Philadelphia 76ers, meanwhile, would have to decide if moving Embiid signals a reset around Tyrese Maxey and younger pieces.
It's a high-stakes idea—exciting, dangerous, and the kind of swing that could define Golden State's next chapter.
