Florida State's Jazzy Francik has evolved into an ACC dominant pitcher, leading FSU softball to a strong NCAA tournament position.

Jazzy Francik has transformed from a promising freshman into one of the ACC's most dominant pitchers, and her mental game is just as sharp as her fastball. The Florida State sophomore steps into the circle with a quiet confidence that silences everything around her.

"When I'm on the field, I don't hear the fans, and I don't hear the other team," Francik says. "Everything goes quiet. It's me believing I'm going to give my best pitch."

That focused mindset has fueled a remarkable season. After showing flashes of brilliance as a freshman but struggling under postseason pressure, Francik has taken a major leap forward. She enters the NCAA tournament with a 23-1 record as a starter — the most wins in the ACC — along with a stellar 1.72 ERA and 114 strikeouts, ranking among the league's top two in both categories. She also threw six no-hitters this season.

The key? Improved command. Francik has cut down on high-leverage mistakes, forcing opponents into weaker contact and allowing Florida State to control the tempo from the first pitch. That means fewer extended innings, better pitch efficiency, and a more confident defense behind her.

Her consistency earned her ACC Pitcher of the Year honors and helped power the Seminoles to their 20th conference championship — a testament to both individual growth and program strength.

Head coach Lonni Alameda, known for developing elite pitchers over her 18-year tenure, credits Francik's focus on the process. "She's been really good at going process to process," Alameda says.

That pitch-to-pitch mentality has become the foundation of Francik's maturity. With her evolution from talented newcomer to conference ace complete, Florida State heads into the NCAA tournament with one of the nation's most dangerous arms in the circle — and a pitcher who knows exactly how to quiet the noise.
