Jayson Tatum can unfortunately relate to what Donte DiVincenzo experienced on Saturday.
DiVincenzo tore his right Achilles tendon in the Minnesota Timberwolves' Game 4 playoff win over the Denver Nuggets. The gutting injury occurred nearly a year after Tatum suffered the same fate during the 2025 playoffs.
Tatum discussed DiVincenzo's Achilles injury after leading the Boston Celtics to a 128-96 win over the Philadelphia 76ers with 30 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
"It was tough seeing that," Tatum said on Sunday, via the NBA on Prime. "I never want anybody to go through that injury and what's to come in the rehab process."
While they don't have a personal relationship off the court, Tatum plans on contacting DiVincenzo. The 29-year-old underwent surgery in New York on Sunday.
"I know for a fact I'm going to reach out to him at some point," Tatum said. "Just happened yesterday, so it's a lot going on for him, and I'm glad he got his surgery today. My thoughts and prayers have been with him, and hopefully it was successful."
Tatum was gutted to see DiVincenzo go down, but he's ready to help the NBA champion-winning guard through a lengthy recovery.
"You never want to see anybody injured, especially that one. I was definitely sick to my stomach yesterday seeing him go down because I know exactly how he's feeling," Tatum said. "I know exactly what he has to go through, but now I'm gonna be a resource, reach out to him. He has me in his corner, whether he's gonna like it or not.
