Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has a message for fans and critics alike: he's not going anywhere, and he's proud to be wearing green.
After the Celtics' early playoff exit at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 of the first round, the rumor mill went into overdrive. Speculation about Brown's frustration with the organization spread like wildfire, fueled by comments from former NBA star Tracy McGrady, who is a close friend and mentor to Brown.
McGrady told Vince Carter on the "Cousins" podcast that Brown's "frustration lies deeply within the organization," without offering specifics. The vague remark was enough to send social media into a frenzy, with fans and analysts questioning the star's future in Boston.
But Brown wasn't about to let rumors define his narrative. Taking to Twitch—a platform he's embraced as a hobby throughout the 2025-26 season—the All-Star guard set the record straight in real-time, speaking directly to thousands of viewers.
"I love Boston," Brown said during the stream, making his feelings crystal clear. He emphasized his desire to stay with the Celtics long-term, putting to rest any speculation about a potential departure.
The pushback came just hours after Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens addressed the rumors head-on. Speaking at the Auerbach Center on Wednesday morning, Stevens revealed that he had a positive end-of-season conversation with Brown just two days prior.
"It was nothing but positive," Stevens said of their Monday meeting. "He has not expressed those frustrations to me. We've been here 10 years together. Obviously, I love JB, and everybody around here loves JB."
Stevens added that his door is always open for any player, and that Brown has consistently been a professional throughout his tenure with the team.
Interestingly, the story comes full circle with McGrady himself. In a twist of irony, Brown recently revealed that it was McGrady who convinced him to stay in Boston during a moment of doubt before the 2024 championship run. "If you can stay, and you got an opportunity to win, win," McGrady told Brown. "I forever took that with me," Brown recalled.
For Celtics fans, Brown's loyalty is more than just words—it's a commitment that helped deliver a title and promises more battles ahead in green.
