Cleveland Cavaliers fans can breathe a little easier. Star center Jarrett Allen, whose presence has been a clear barometer for the team's success this season, provided a positive update on his injured knee ahead of the playoffs. "It's better," Allen stated after Thursday's practice, noting the recent time off has allowed it to "calm down" and return closer to its normal state.

This is crucial news for a Cavaliers team that found its identity this year by featuring Allen's interior scoring, rebounding, and defensive presence. His absence earlier in March due to the knee injury, suffered in a win over Detroit, was a significant setback. While he returned late in the regular season, he was admittedly playing through pain—a common reality as the grueling NBA schedule transitions into the even more physical postseason.

However, Allen stopped short of declaring himself fully recovered. When asked if he'd be 100% for the playoffs, he offered a pragmatic, veteran perspective. "I’d be lying if I said I would expect it to be 100%," Allen said. "No, I don’t think anybody would be 100% going into the playoffs... It’s definitely something I’m going to have to deal with and manage." His plan involves consistent treatment and medication to ensure he can perform at his best when it matters most.

This season has been a battle with injuries for Allen, who played a career-low 56 games due to various issues with his hands and knees. Despite that, he still posted impressive averages of 15.4 points and 8.5 rebounds on a hyper-efficient 63.8% shooting. His ability to persevere and produce will be tested once again as the Cavaliers gear up for their first-round playoff series against the Toronto Raptors, which tips off Saturday afternoon.
