Jannik Schuster has officially joined the Brentford family, and the 19-year-old defender couldn't be more thrilled. The Austrian talent, arriving from Red Bull Salzburg, has signed a contract that keeps him in west London until June 2031, with an option for an additional year. In his first interview as a Bee, Schuster opened up about what drew him to the club and what fans can expect from his game.

"It's a great feeling," Schuster shared, his excitement palpable. "I'm really looking forward to starting training, meeting everybody, and getting to know the players, staff, and fans." For a young player taking a big step up to the Premier League, confidence is key—and Schuster found plenty of it in his conversations with the club.

"It's maybe the best club in the world at developing players," he said, praising Brentford's renowned player development system. "Every conversation I had gave me a good feeling and confidence about the transfer. It's impressive how successful the club has been with players they have brought in from nowhere, I would say!"

That reputation for nurturing raw talent into top-flight stars is a major reason Schuster chose Brentford. The club's track record—turning unheralded signings into Premier League standouts—speaks volumes, and Schuster is eager to be the next success story.

On the pitch, Schuster knows his strengths. "My athleticism is good, I can jump high and run fast," he explained. "My strengths are in defending, and I hope I can show that." For a center-back, those attributes are gold in the modern game, where pace and physicality are non-negotiable. He's also looking forward to learning from the experienced defenders already in the squad. "I'm really excited when I look at the current centre-backs, and I think I can learn a lot from them. If I train with them every day, I'll pick up some things they can do that I can't."

Beyond the tactical side, Schuster is embracing the personal challenge. "I want to develop myself as a player and as a person. This is a new country for me, a new language, and I'm excited about it." It's a mature outlook for a teenager, and one that suggests he's ready to put in the work both on and off the field. For Brentford fans, this signing is another reminder of the club's commitment to building for the future—one promising young defender at a time.
