Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is swapping the Sky Sports studio for the dugout—well, the boardroom. The former Reds defender has been named an advisor to non-league side Marine, a club that's been making serious waves in recent seasons.
Based in Crosby, the same area Carragher calls home, Marine finished 12th in the National League North during the 2025-26 campaign. But don't let that mid-table finish fool you—this is a club on the rise. They've secured promotions in both 2022 and 2024, played a memorable FA Cup third-round tie against Tottenham Hotspur, and even reached the FA Trophy semi-finals. Now, with a new stadium in the works, they're aiming even higher.
"Marine is a proper community football club with good people involved and a clear vision for where it wants to go," Carragher said. "I've enjoyed watching the progress the club has made over recent years, and I'm pleased to be able to support them in an advisory capacity going forward."
It's a move that adds a touch of Premier League pedigree to a club that's built its reputation on grassroots grit. Marine's chief executive, James Leary, couldn't hide his excitement: "This is a brilliant moment for Marine Football Club. Jamie is someone who genuinely cares about football and the local community, and he's followed closely what we've been building here over the last few years. His experience and relationships will be a huge help as we continue moving Marine forward."
For Carragher, this marks a new chapter in a football life that's already seen plenty of highlights. After hanging up his boots in 2013 following 737 appearances for Liverpool, he walked away with a Champions League trophy, two FA Cups, three League Cups, and a UEFA Cup. Since then, he's become one of Sky Sports' top pundits alongside Gary Neville, and has even built a fanbase across the Atlantic as part of CBS Sports' Champions League coverage with Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, and Kate Scott.
Now, he's bringing that wealth of experience back to the grassroots game. Whether you're a Marine fan or just love a good underdog story, this is one partnership worth watching.
