Wales head coach Steve Tandy has rolled the dice for the summer internationals, handing six uncapped players their first call-ups in an extended 48-man squad that blends fresh talent with battle-hardened experience. The headline names are Exeter Chiefs back-rower Kane James and Harlequins centre Bryn Bradley, both of whom have opted to ply their trade in England but now get their shot at international rugby.

Joining them in the uncapped ranks are Dragons back-row duo Ryan Woodman and Harrison Keddie, Cardiff loose-head prop Rhys Barratt, and Ospreys tight-head Ben Warren. It's a clear signal that Tandy is looking to build depth ahead of a packed summer schedule.

The squad also welcomes back several familiar faces who missed the Six Nations through injury. British and Irish Lions flanker Jac Morgan, Cardiff lock Teddy Williams, and centre Max Llewellyn all return, adding firepower to a side that will be captained by an as-yet-unnamed leader. Morgan has been sidelined for Wales' last eight internationals after suffering a shoulder injury against Argentina in November 2025, with hooker Dewi Lake stepping into the captaincy role during his absence.

There's no place for Scarlets flanker Josh Macleod, Dragons trio Rio Dyer, Elliot Dee, and Brodie Coghlan, or Ospreys quartet Owen Watkin, Morgan Morris, Morgan Morse, and Harri Deaves—a reminder of the fierce competition for spots in this squad.

Wales will play four matches this summer: a warm-up clash against the Barbarians at Twickenham's Allianz Stadium on 27 June, followed by three Nations Championship fixtures against Fiji, Argentina, and South Africa. Notably, the 15 players based outside Wales will be unavailable for the Barbarians game, as it falls outside World Rugby's international window.

With 33 players based in Wales—Cardiff contributing 12, Scarlets nine, Ospreys seven, and Dragons five—the squad will assemble on a staggered basis depending on club commitments. "Some players will finish next weekend, and some might not come into the squad until 27 June," Tandy explained. "That's the reason for the extended squad. There will be an updated squad post the Barbarians game before we go into the Nations Championship."

For fans of Welsh rugby, this summer offers a tantalising glimpse of the future—and a chance to see who will step up on the biggest stage.
