Jake Paul may have already thrown his last punch in the boxing ring. The influencer-turned-fighter, still recovering from a brutal broken jaw suffered against Anthony Joshua, revealed this week that he's seriously questioning whether he'll ever compete again.
Back in December, Paul stepped up to face former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in what was the biggest test of his career. The result was a harsh reality check: Joshua stopped Paul in the sixth round, handing "The Problem Child" his second loss and first career knockout defeat. The damage went far beyond the scorecards—Paul suffered a broken jaw that has kept him out of action ever since.
Speaking Monday on "The Ariel Helwani Show," Paul opened up about the severity of his injury and what it means for his future. "We'll see what my doctors say," Paul explained. "I'll be able to get a more accurate timeframe, or can I even fight again? That is definitely in the realm of possibilities."
The 29-year-old is scheduled for scans in the coming days to assess how his jaw is healing. His doctor has already advised against him returning to the ring. "The jaw does feel a lot better as weeks and time goes by, but I definitely need to get cleared first to be able to spar," Paul added. "Most definitely my fighting future is in doubt. It just depends on how the bone heals."
Adding to the uncertainty, Paul revealed he's also dealing with a missing tooth that will require an implant. "I'm not sure how much time that's going to add to things, but we just have to see and figure out what the smartest thing is for me."
It's a sobering moment for a fighter who has defied expectations since transitioning from YouTube star to professional boxer in 2018. Beyond his own career, Paul has made significant strides as a promoter through Most Valuable Promotions, which is set to host Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano this Saturday in Netflix's first-ever MMA event.
While Paul acknowledges that early retirement is a very real possibility, he remains in a wait-and-see mode. For now, the fighter who once promised to shock the world is facing the most uncertain chapter of his boxing journey.
