After examining what the Jacksonville Jaguars' starting offense would look like prior to the 2026 NFL draft starting, let's now dive into the defensive side of the ball.
As previously mentioned, with 11 draft picks, undrafted free agency, and the potential for a veteran addition or two after the draft, the roster as it is constructed today will not be what we see when the Jaguars take the practice field in July for training camp.
However, what this exercise does prior to the draft is highlight where some of the Jaguars' more pressing roster needs may lie.
Defensive line: Josh Hines-Allen, Arik Armstead, DaVon Hamilton, Travon Walker
The starting lineup looks good, but more depth at both the end and tackle positions is needed. The only other linemen under contract right now are BJ Green, Danny Striggow, Matt Dickerson, Ruke Orhorhoro, and Keivie Rose.
Linebacker: Ventrell Miller, Foye Oluokun, Dennis Gardeck
When in their 4-3 alignment, we know that Oluokun and Gardeck will be on the field, but who will fill Devin Lloyd's role? The Jaguars are bullish on Miller, and it feels like it's his job to lose, but more competition could be brought in during the draft.
Cornerback: Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis
Re-signing Brown helped stabilize this position group, with the starting unit already on the roster. Jarrian Jones will provide depth, but making an addition -- or two -- in the draft to enhance the competition is likely on Gladstone's radar.
Johnson will step into a full-time starting role with Andrew Wingard in Arizona -- a role he very much earned with his play last season. Caleb Ransaw and Rayuan Lane will likely be first off the bench, given what we know now.
