Sancho failed to complete any key passes and only made 33% of his passes in the match.
The winger also failed to make any tackles and completed 0% of his aerial or ground duels.
He poorly gave the ball away on the edge of the area, which allowed Trai Hume to run in and finish superbly for Sunderland.
The Villans will next be in action away to Fulham on Saturday lunchtime.
Devaney played 120 minutes of action as Celtic defeated St Mirren 6-2 after extra time in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The young Irishman helped his side earn a valiant 2-2 draw after normal time, but Celtic proved to have too much experience in extra time to seal the victory.
It will be a bitter pill to swallow, but playing in a cup semi-final against Celtic will be invaluable for his experience.
