Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies have added another key piece to their roster for the upcoming season. The program secured a commitment from Jaye Nash, a 6-foot-3 guard who arrives from Jacksonville State following a visit to Storrs this past week. The Memphis native, who began his college career at Tulsa before transferring to Jacksonville State for his sophomore year, brings a wealth of experience and a pass-first mentality to the Huskies' backcourt.
Last season with the Gamecocks, Nash averaged 5.1 points and an impressive 4.0 assists in 25.7 minutes per game, appearing in 32 contests and starting 15. His playmaking ability was on full display as he dished out 129 assists for a Jacksonville State squad that finished tied for sixth in Conference USA. Nash showed his scoring touch in spurts, reaching double figures six times, including five consecutive games in February and a career-high 19 points against Kennesaw State. While he only attempted 35 three-pointers, his primary strength lies in creating opportunities for his teammates and controlling the tempo.
Nash is expected to compete for minutes at the backup point guard spot behind Silas Demary Jr., alongside Junior County. He appears likely to slide into a role similar to what Alec Millender occupied last season—providing experienced depth in emergency situations and serving as a reliable presence at the end of the bench. This addition gives UConn another ball-handler and playmaker who can step in when needed.
Nash joins an already loaded incoming transfer class that includes Na'Jai Hines, Nik Khamenia, Oskar Giltay, and Nils Machowski—all part of the Huskies' push to return to the Final Four for a fourth time in five years. With two freshmen and five returners already on board, UConn still has three roster spots to fill as summer practices approach in June. For fans looking to gear up for what promises to be another exciting season, this commitment signals that the Huskies are building depth and versatility to compete at the highest level.
