The Class 1A, Area 12 softball tournament got off to an electrifying start Monday, with Jacksonville Christian and Spring Garden storming to first-round victories that set the stage for a must-see showdown.

Jacksonville Christian delivered a dominant performance, blanking Coosa Christian 15-0 in a game that showcased both pitching prowess and offensive firepower. The Thunder's Addy Lee was untouchable in the circle, firing a perfect game with seven strikeouts over three innings. But she wasn't just a star on the mound—Lee also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored, proving she's a dual threat.

The Thunder's bats exploded early and often. Bryleigh Reid crushed a two-run inside-the-park home run, while Mollie Mullinax added an RBI triple and scored twice. Sophie Williams showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks, stealing a base, and crossing home plate three times. Audrina Williams went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and Carlie Chesson contributed a perfect 2-for-2 day with two RBIs and two runs. Cali Sexton, Amia Jones, and Amberly Brodeur each chipped in singles, with Sexton stealing a base and scoring twice, while Jones and Symone Estell each touched home once.

Spring Garden's Panthers also punched their ticket to the next round, edging Gaylesville 5-2 in a tightly contested matchup. Kylie Bates set the tone early, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run and finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Addie Word added a highlight-reel moment with a two-run inside-the-park home run, while Maya Jennings, Olivia Messer, Ellie Miller, and Hayden Parris each singled. Parris and Lleyton Carroll also contributed runs.

In the circle, Kendall Birchfield earned the win with a gritty seven-inning performance, allowing just two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven.

The stage is now set for a thrilling Tuesday afternoon clash: Jacksonville Christian and Spring Garden will meet at 2 p.m., with the winner advancing to the championship round. For fans of small-school softball, this is a matchup you won't want to miss—two teams with momentum, power hitters, and ace pitchers ready to battle for area supremacy.
