After leaving the Ducks in the transfer portal, Jackson Shelstad and Kwame Evans Jr. are expected to compete with major programs next season.

The college basketball offseason is heating up, and the transfer portal is buzzing with major moves. For the Oregon Ducks, the departure of key players has created significant roster holes, with five entries into the portal and other losses to graduation and the NBA Draft.

Among the most notable exits are two foundational pieces: guard Jackson Shelstad and forward Kwame Evans Jr. Both are now among the most sought-after talents available, with expectations high that they will immediately bolster championship-contending programs next season.

According to On3's Pete Nakos, Jackson Shelstad is likely to remain on the West Coast. The dynamic guard, who averaged 15.6 points and 4.9 assists before a hand injury cut his season short, has drawn comparisons to former Duck star Payton Pritchard for his playmaking flair. Shelstad has visits scheduled with Louisville and Arizona, but Nakos predicts the Arizona Wildcats—fresh off a Final Four run—are the frontrunners. With Arizona needing to replace key backcourt players, Shelstad could step in as the primary ball-handler from day one.

Meanwhile, Kwame Evans Jr. is exploring his options both in the portal and the NBA Draft. If he returns to college basketball, his recruitment appears to be a battle between two blue-blood programs. Nakos reports that Villanova currently holds the edge, with Kentucky also showing strong interest in the versatile 6-foot-10 forward. Evans broke out this past season at Oregon, posting averages of 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, showcasing the two-way potential that has top programs vying for his commitment.

As the transfer carousel spins, the decisions of Shelstad and Evans will be pivotal in shaping the landscape for the 2025-26 season. Where they land could shift the power balance in college basketball.
