In a move that's shaking up the West Coast recruiting landscape, Jackson Hill—a standout offensive lineman from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade—has officially flipped his commitment from UCLA to Notre Dame. The decision marks a bold shift for the three-star tackle, who holds an 88 Rating from Rivals.com and ranks as the No. 42 player in California.

Hill, who measures an impressive 6-foot-6.5 and 300 pounds with an 84-inch wingspan, turned heads at the recent Under Armour Next Camp in Los Angeles. His combination of size, natural bend, and quick feet has made him one of the top tackle prospects out West. Originally committing to the Bruins in early April, Hill seemed locked in—until Notre Dame came calling just three weeks ago.

"Notre Dame is the only school I would have flipped from UCLA for," Hill said. "It was a hard decision because I really love UCLA and the coaching staff. It was so hard to tell coach Hill and coach Chesney that I was making the change."

Despite the difficulty of leaving a program he respects deeply, Hill is embracing the challenge. He knows the Irish typically recruit four- and five-star offensive linemen, but that's exactly what drew him in. "I'm betting on myself," he explained. "Notre Dame only recruits the best of the best. It might take a few years to get on the field, but when I do play, I'm going to be ready."

A key factor in his decision was offensive line coach Joe Rudolph, whom Hill calls "one of the best, if not the best, offensive line coaches in the country." The Irish's track record of developing NFL-ready talent also played a major role. "Notre Dame gets guys drafted every year, and that development is what I'm looking for. I don't want the easy road—you don't get better by taking the easy path."

Hill's recruitment heated up quickly. After assistant GM Kenny Sanders visited his school three weeks ago, Hill received a call from coach Rudolph inviting him to South Bend. He made the trip just two weeks ago, where he received an in-person offer that sealed the deal.

For Hill, this isn't just a change of scenery—it's a statement. "I know it's going to be tough and a struggle, but that's what I want. You have to fight and scratch and adapt when things are hard, and that's what I'm about."
