The South Dakota State women's golf team kicked off their NCAA Regional campaign Monday at the prestigious Stanford Golf Course, with senior McKenzie Mages leading the Jackrabbits after a steady opening round.

Mages posted an even-par performance, carding four birdies—three of which came in a blistering start over her first six holes. Her consistency places her tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard, putting the Jackrabbits in a strong position as the tournament progresses.

Molly O'Hara also showed flashes of brilliance with three birdies of her own, finishing at +4 for the round and tied for 44th. The rest of the SDSU lineup saw Reese Jansa at +6 (tied for 52nd), Riko Danjo at +7 (tied for 56th), and Hannah Boraas at +8 (63rd).

As a team, the Jackrabbits sit tied for 10th with Illinois at +17, while host Stanford dominates the field at -9 on their home course, with four players under par. New Mexico State's Emma Bunch, competing as an individual, leads all golfers with an impressive -7 scorecard.

The Jacks will look to climb the leaderboard when they tee off Tuesday at 10:55 a.m. CT, starting on hole 10 alongside Illinois and the Naval Academy. With Mages finding her rhythm early, SDSU has the firepower to make a move in round two.
