The Jackrabbit Softball team wrapped up its 2026 regular season with a tough outing against North Dakota State, falling 15-2 in five innings on Saturday in Fargo. The Bison came out swinging, dropping 13 runs in the first inning alone—fueled by 13 hits and 12 earned runs—to seize control early. It was a challenging day at the office for the SDSU pitching staff, but the team’s focus now shifts to the postseason.
For much of the game, the Jackrabbits’ bats were quiet, managing just one hit through the first four innings. But the fifth inning brought a spark. Singles from Alli Boyle, Emma Vike, and Abby Gentry set the stage, and Akayla Barnard delivered a two-run double to put SDSU on the board. On the mound, Bella MacMahon provided a bright spot, throwing 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out two.
Now, the Jackrabbits turn their attention to The Summit League Softball Championship. As the No. 6 seed, SDSU will face a familiar foe—the No. 3 seed Bison—in a rematch that promises high stakes. The two teams will meet on Wednesday, May 6, at 4 p.m. on the campus of the University of Minnesota. It’s a fresh start for the Jackrabbits, who will look to channel that late-game energy into a strong postseason run. Gear up for the tournament with the latest Jackrabbit apparel and show your support from the stands or the couch!
