Jack McGlynn delivered a standout performance, scoring twice to lead the Houston Dynamo to a commanding 4-1 victory over Los Angeles FC on Sunday night. The win showcased the Dynamo's offensive firepower and resilience on the road.
McGlynn opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a stunning strike from well outside the box, courtesy of an assist from Lawrence Ennali. It marked his first goal of the season, following a career-high six goals in 2025. The early lead set the tone for a dominant first half.
Houston doubled their advantage in the 34th minute when first-year midfielder Guilherme Santos converted a free kick. Santos has been a revelation, netting his sixth goal in just 11 matches this season. The Dynamo seemed in complete control until LAFC's Nathan Ordaz pulled one back three minutes before halftime, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The goal came after a tense sequence where McGlynn hit the far post from nearly the same spot as his earlier strike.
McGlynn was shown a yellow card in first-half stoppage time, but the Dynamo quickly regained momentum after the break. Mateusz Bogusz made it 3-1 in the 51st minute with a left-footed finish, his second goal since joining Houston from LAFC, where he scored 18 times in 60 appearances between 2023 and 2024.
McGlynn capped his brilliant night in the 55th minute, completing his brace with assists from Ennali and Santos. Ennali recorded his first two assists of the campaign, while Santos added to his growing tally with his fifth helper of the season. The three-goal lead proved insurmountable for LAFC.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was solid for Houston, making five saves to help the Dynamo improve to 6-5-0 overall and 2-3-1 on the road. On the other end, LAFC's Hugo Lloris stopped two shots but saw his stellar run disrupted—he entered the match with eight shutouts in his first 10 starts, three more than any other MLS goalkeeper.
Houston has now dominated this rivalry, going 5-2-1 in their last eight meetings and keeping LAFC scoreless in five of those contests. The result avenged a 2-0 loss to LAFC in Houston back in February. LAFC, now 6-3-3, falls to 4-2-1 at home, and they also lost defender Sergi Palencia to an apparent injury in the 42nd minute.
For the Dynamo, this emphatic win signals their growing confidence and depth, with McGlynn leading the charge in a performance that will have fans buzzing about what's to come this season.
