In the competitive world of NBA front offices, talent doesn't always get the recognition it deserves on the first try. Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch recently shared his thoughts on the Bulls' hiring process, offering praise for both the winner and the runner-up.
"Congratulations to Bryson Graham," Finch said, reflecting on the Bulls' decision. "I worked with Bryson in New Orleans for a number of years. He's a class act and an outstanding talent evaluator. I'm sure he will be a great pick for the Bulls."
But Finch's admiration was especially reserved for Matt Lloyd, the Timberwolves executive who narrowly missed out on the Chicago job. "He's one of the best executives I've ever worked with anywhere I've been," Finch emphasized. "He's an absolute rock star when it comes to running processes, connecting with people in the building, positivity, leadership, and managing up and down."
Finch, who has seen his fair share of talent evaluation during his coaching career, made it clear this isn't the end of the road for Lloyd. "It's only a matter of time until he gets his chance, I'm convinced of it. These are really hard jobs to get, highly coveted. Lots of things go into them. We're fortunate to have him here and he's been a huge part of our success."
For Timberwolves fans, this is a reminder of the strong executive talent behind the scenes—a key ingredient for any team's long-term success. And for aspiring front office professionals, it's a testament that perseverance and skill eventually get noticed in the NBA's fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
