The Missouri Valley Conference baseball race is as tight as ever after a thrilling Sunday showdown between the Indiana State Sycamores and host Murray State at Johnny Reagan Field. In a game that had everything—home runs, comebacks, and extra-inning drama—the Racers walked off with an 8-7 victory in the 10th inning, keeping the conference standings razor-thin.

Murray State's Anthony Perritano delivered the decisive blow, a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th that scored Connor Cunningham and sent the home crowd into a frenzy. The win pulled the Racers to 13-8 in MVC play, just a half-game behind the Sycamores, who now share the top spot at 14-7 with UIC.

Indiana State struck first in the second inning when Colin Sander's sacrifice bunt brought in the game's opening run. But the Racers answered in a big way in the third, as Connor Chisolm launched a two-run homer and Kainen Jorge added a solo shot to give Murray State a 3-1 lead.

The Sycamores clawed back in the fifth, tying the game at 3-3 on an RBI grounder from Nomar Garcia and a run-scoring single by Mason Roell. However, Chisolm struck again in the bottom of the frame, crushing his second two-run homer of the day to put the Racers back on top, 5-3.

Indiana State refused to back down. In the sixth, Nick Sutherlin—who has been a force at the plate all season—smacked a two-run homer to left field, his ninth of the year, knotting the game at 5-5. The back-and-forth continued in the seventh, with Murray State scoring twice on Jorge's RBI double and Daylan Pena's run-scoring single. But the Sycamores answered right back, as Emil Estrella singled in a run and Weston Fulk grounded out to plate another, making it 7-7.

Reliever Colby Morse entered in the eighth and looked unstoppable, retiring six straight batters across two innings. But in the 10th, Cunningham singled with one out, advanced to second on a grounder, and scored on Perritano's walk-off hit to left. Morse took the loss, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three over 2.2 innings.

Caden Miller and Sutherlin each had two hits for the Sycamores, with Fulk adding a double. Spencer Johnsen started and worked five innings, while Owen Roberts pitched two frames in relief.

Despite the tough loss, Indiana State remains in control of its own destiny in the MVC race. The Sycamores return home Tuesday to open a four-game homestand against Lindenwood at Bob Warn Field, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
