The Islanders have invited a top NCAA free agents to their upcoming development camp.

The New York Islanders are bringing in some local talent for their upcoming development camp, extending an invitation to Tanner Adams—a Northport, Long Island native and rising star from Providence College.

Adams, a 20-year-old right-shot forward standing 5-foot-11, is coming off a strong season where he matched his career high with 11 goals. In 36 games for Providence College this year, he notched 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists). Over three NCAA seasons and 108 career games, Adams has been a consistent offensive force, totaling 67 points (28 goals, 39 assists) and leading the Friars in scoring during that span.

While the Islanders haven't officially announced dates for this year's development camp, history offers a clue: the 2025 camp kicked off the Monday after the NHL Draft. If that pattern holds, the 2026 camp would start during the week of June 29.

Attending the camp won't jeopardize Adams' NCAA eligibility, but it gives the Islanders a valuable early look at one of the projected top NCAA free agents for Spring 2027. This isn't Adams' first rodeo at a pro camp—he's previously attended development camps with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vegas Golden Knights.

For Islanders fans, keeping an eye on Adams could be a smart move. Local kids with this kind of scoring touch and versatility don't come around often, and a strong camp showing might just put him on the team's radar for the future.
