New York is in Milwaukee for a three-game weekend set.

Big news out of the Bronx: the Yankees are giving one of their most intriguing prospects his first shot at the big leagues. Outfielder Spencer Jones, the team's No. 6-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has been called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and is set to make his Major League debut tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-7, Jones has been turning heads with his raw power. In just 33 games at Triple-A this season, he crushed 11 home runs and drove in 41 runs, posting a blistering .958 OPS over 142 plate appearances. That power surge comes on the heels of a 2024 campaign where he launched 35 home runs between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A. The Vanderbilt product will get his first real taste of big-league pitching tonight, serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth in the series opener.

Jones joins the roster after Jasson Dominguez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain, suffered when he crashed into the outfield wall making a spectacular catch. With Dominguez sidelined, the Yankees' regular outfield will feature Cody Bellinger in left, Trent Grisham in center, and Aaron Judge in right.

Speaking of Judge, his presence in the lineup alongside Jones creates a historic oddity. According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, the Yankees are the first team in Major League history to roster two position players who are 6-foot-7 or taller. It's a towering outfield duo that could become a fan favorite at Yankee Stadium.

As the Yankees open a three-game weekend set in Milwaukee, all eyes will be on Jones to see if his Triple-A success translates to the big stage. For a team that loves its power hitters, this could be the start of something special.
