The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the brink of advancing to the second round, holding a 3-2 series lead over the Denver Nuggets. But as they prepare for Thursday night's pivotal Game 6, a new injury concern has emerged for one of their unsung heroes.
Reserve guard Ayo Dosunmu has been a revelation in this playoff series, stepping up in a big way when the Timberwolves needed him most. After starters Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo went down with injuries in Game 4, Dosunmu delivered one of the most efficient 43-point performances in NBA postseason history—a game that had fans and analysts alike buzzing about his clutch emergence.
However, the injury bug appears to have bitten again. On Thursday morning, Dosunmu was a late addition to the Timberwolves' injury report, listed as questionable with right calf soreness. This timing is far from ideal, and history tells us that late additions to injury reports often signal a player who may not suit up. Just ask Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, who was a same-day scratch for Game 3 of this series due to calf tightness.
The Timberwolves' backcourt is already stretched thin. DiVincenzo is out with a right Achilles tendon repair, Edwards is sidelined with a left knee bone bruise, and fellow reserve Bones Hyland is also questionable with left knee soreness. That leaves Dosunmu as one of the few healthy options—if his calf cooperates.
Without knowing the full extent of the injury, it's hard to imagine Dosunmu won't at least test his calf in pregame warmups before making a final decision. With so much on the line, he may try to push through the pain to help his team close out the series. All eyes will be on his status as tip-off approaches Thursday night.
