Ipswich Town has announced that forward Conor Chaplin will depart the club when his contract expires this summer, marking the end of a memorable six-year chapter at Portman Road.
The 29-year-old played an instrumental role in the Tractor Boys' remarkable rise from League One to the Premier League, contributing heavily to consecutive promotions and featuring regularly in their top-flight campaign last season. His journey with Ipswich began in 2019 when he signed from Barnsley, and he went on to score 55 goals in 174 appearances across all competitions.
While Chaplin started the current season in Ipswich's first four matches, he moved to Portsmouth on loan in September. During his time at Fratton Park, he made 36 Championship appearances and netted two goals, playing a key part in Pompey's successful fight against relegation.
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna paid tribute to the departing forward, stating: "Conor has been a massive part of the growth and success of the football club during his time here. He leaves with our gratitude and fullest respect, and we wish him well in the next steps in his career."
As Chaplin prepares for his next move, fans will remember him as a player who helped write one of the most exciting chapters in Ipswich's recent history—a classic tale of a club rising from the lower leagues to the Premier League spotlight.
