Dream debuts don't get much better than this. In a stunning introduction to the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad's young pacer Praful Hinge etched his name into the record books with a spell that instantly became the talk of the tournament.
Facing the previously unbeaten Rajasthan Royals, Hinge produced a fairytale first over, becoming the first bowler in IPL history to take three wickets in the opening over of an innings. He sent back Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius for golden ducks, single-handedly dismantling RR's top order and setting the stage for a dominant SRH victory.
The 22-year-old from Nagpur revealed after the match that his incredible start was born from a very specific ambition. "I wanted Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's wicket on the first ball," Hinge confessed, having visualized this exact scenario. "I did think about it. Last year, I had written somewhere that whenever I play my first match, I will definitely take four or five wickets. And I wanted to dominate as much as possible in the powerplay."
His dream spell, which saw him finish with exceptional figures of 4/34, was the perfect complement to skipper Ishan Kishan's blistering 91 off 44 balls, which powered SRH to a formidable 216/6. Rajasthan Royals, shell-shocked by Hinge's opening salvo, were bowled out for 159, suffering their first loss of the season.
An emotional Hinge dedicated his Player of the Match award to his family, highlighting the long journey from picking up a cricket ball at age 13 to starring on the world's biggest T20 stage. "They’ve made a lot of sacrifices for me," he said. "I just want to say, their hard work and sacrifices mean everything." It was a debut performance of pure pace, precision, and promise—a statement arrival that has the entire cricketing world taking notice.
