IPL 2026: 'We’ve missed his presence'- MI star bowler on Hardik Pandya’s absence

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Corbin Bosch acknowledged the significant impact of captain Hardik Pandya's absence on their disappointing IPL season. Bosch stated that the team has missed Pandya's leadership and on-field contributions, contributing to their struggles in crucial moments. The side has failed to deliver complete performances, with key moments consistently going against them.

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Corbin Bosch has opened up about the team's struggles this IPL season, admitting that the absence of captain Hardik Pandya has left a noticeable void in the squad—both on and off the field.

The five-time champions were officially eliminated from playoff contention after a narrow loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur, a match Pandya missed due to a back spasm. That game marked the third league-stage fixture the star all-rounder has sat out this season, following earlier absences against Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.

"It's obviously been tough. Hardik is not only a leader but a fantastic cricketer as well. We've missed his presence when it comes to the on-field stuff," Bosch told reporters on the eve of MI's upcoming clash against Punjab Kings. "I'm sure the people making decisions and looking after him are trying to do the best for him and for the team. It has been tricky, but at the same time, the game moves forward and we still need to play cricket."

With India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav stepping in to lead the side in Pandya's absence—and likely doing so again against Punjab Kings—Mumbai Indians find themselves second from bottom in the 10-team points table. Bosch pointed to the team's inability to deliver a complete all-round performance as the biggest factor behind their disappointing campaign.

"We just have not put together a complete game. One day it's been the bowlers doing well and the batters struggling, the next it's the opposite. In a tournament like the IPL, you need everyone firing at the same time to win those tight moments," Bosch explained.

For MI fans and fantasy cricket enthusiasts alike, the absence of a player of Pandya's caliber has been keenly felt. His explosive batting, reliable bowling, and sharp captaincy are the kind of game-changing contributions that define championship-winning sides. As Mumbai Indians look to finish the season on a positive note, the focus now shifts to building momentum for the future—and perhaps, hoping for their captain's swift return to action.
