IPL 2026: 'Still haven’t played a perfect match'- Shubman Gill’s warning to other teams after GT demolish RR

Shubman Gill, leading Gujarat Titans to a commanding win, expressed satisfaction with their dominant performance while still seeking a 'perfect match'. Despite a strong batting display and a comfortable victory, Gill highlighted areas for improvement, emphasizing aggressive bowling and crucial partnerships. He also confirmed a minor ankle scare during the innings, as the team continues its winning streak.

Shubman Gill has issued a warning to the rest of the IPL: Gujarat Titans haven't played their perfect match yet. After leading his team to a dominant 77-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, the GT captain struck a confident yet measured tone, signaling that this formidable side still has room to grow.

Gill himself was in sublime form, smashing 84 off just 44 balls and forging a 118-run opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan. Their blistering start laid the foundation for GT's imposing total of 229/4, before the bowlers dismantled RR for just 152. It was a complete performance by any measure—yet Gill insists the best is yet to come.

"Even before this match, we had a conversation that we haven't played a perfect match yet," Gill revealed. "So I'm very happy. I think this was a clean win for us." That hunger for improvement is precisely what makes GT so dangerous as they climb the standings on a four-match winning streak.

While the scoreboard suggested total domination, Gill identified subtle areas for growth. "We got maybe 10-15 runs extra on the board," he noted. "We thought there was a little bit in the pitch for the spinners in the middle. It wasn't easy to hit sixes or get boundaries." The captain's tactical awareness was on full display as he explained how the team navigated a tricky phase without boundaries in the 17th and 18th overs before recovering in the final over.

Gill also emphasized GT's aggressive bowling philosophy, particularly in the powerplay. "We believe it's important to hold the fort up front," he said. "The only way to contain the other team is if you keep picking up wickets. There is no other way." That attacking mindset has become a hallmark of this Titans side.

There was a moment of concern during the innings when Gill appeared to be in discomfort. "I twisted my ankle a little bit while taking a run," he confirmed. "It was quite painful, but after half an hour it settled down." The minor scare seems to be behind him as GT prepare for their next challenge.

With momentum firmly on their side, Gill's message to the rest of the league is clear: this team is good, but they're still chasing perfection. "Now the next game is at home," he said with a smile. "Hopefully we're going to have another good match." For opponents, that's a worrying thought.
