Iowa women’s basketball has landed its second portal acquisition of the offseason, this time plucking a player from the Big 12.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are making strategic moves in the transfer portal, securing their second key addition of the offseason. Head coach Lisa Bluder and her staff have landed a commitment from Oklahoma State transfer guard Amari Whiting, bolstering the backcourt for the upcoming campaign.

Whiting, a 5-foot-10 guard with one year of eligibility remaining, announced her decision on social media following a visit to Iowa City. A proven starter at every stop in her collegiate journey—beginning at BYU before her stint at Oklahoma State—Whiting brings valuable experience and a well-rounded game to Iowa City.

Coming off her most efficient season, Whiting posted career-best shooting numbers (42.5% FG, 32.1% 3PT) for an Oklahoma State team that won 24 games and earned an NCAA Tournament bid. She averaged 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, showcasing her ability to contribute across the stat sheet and notch double-doubles.

Her scoring versatility, including multiple three-point performances, will be a welcome asset. Hawkeye fans might even remember her from a previous matchup; Whiting scored 11 points against Iowa while playing for BYU in the 2024 Cancun Challenge. This addition signals Iowa's intent to remain a national contender, reloading with seasoned talent ready to compete at the highest level.
