The future of Iowa women's basketball is looking bright, and the Hawkeyes are already planting seeds for the class of 2028. On Wednesday, the program extended an offer to one of the most promising young talents in the Midwest: Bridget Fitzgerald.
A 6-foot-2 small forward from St. Louis, Missouri, Fitzgerald stars for Incarnate Word Academy, a powerhouse high school program. According to Prep Girls Hoops, she's ranked as the No. 2 player in Missouri's 2028 class—a testament to her elite skill set and potential. During the offseason, she suits up for the Napheesa Collier Elite AAU program, the same organization that produced Hawkeye legend Kate Martin, adding a special layer of connection to Iowa City.
Fitzgerald announced the offer on social media, expressing her excitement: "Excited to receive an offer from @IowaWBB! Thank you @goiowa and @CoachLBarrett for the opportunity."
She's already drawing interest from a who's who of college basketball. Along with Iowa, Fitzgerald holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Michigan, and Illinois. She's also been active on the recruiting trail, making unofficial visits to Michigan in November 2025 and Illinois in February 2026.
For Hawkeye fans, this recruitment is one to watch—especially as the program continues to build on its recent success. Fitzgerald's combination of size, versatility, and high-level competition experience makes her a standout prospect in the 2028 class. Stay tuned for more updates as her recruitment heats up.
