Two rising stars from Iowa women's basketball are taking their talents to the next level. Junior guard Dani Carnegie and junior center Ava Heiden have been selected to participate in USA Basketball's 3x3 development camp and the 3X Women's Showcase, set to take place May 6-8 in Phoenix, Arizona.

This invitation marks a major milestone for both players, who will be making their USA Basketball debuts. The camp is designed for athletes under 23 and provides a competitive yet educational environment to sharpen their 3x3 skills. Veteran coaches Todd Monsey and Julia Ford will lead the sessions, joined by newcomers Jonneshia Pineda and Joi Williams, who are making their coaching debuts with the program.

Heiden enters the camp on the heels of a breakout sophomore season that turned heads across the Big Ten. She averaged an impressive 18.0 points per game on 64.1% shooting, along with 7.2 rebounds and a team-leading 1.3 blocks per contest. Perhaps most remarkably, she scored in double figures against all 17 Big Ten opponents, finishing with 612 points—the third-highest total ever by an Iowa sophomore. Her stellar play earned her AP/USBWA All-America Honorable Mention and first-team All-Big Ten honors from both coaches and media.

Carnegie, who will join the Hawkeyes next season, brings her own impressive resume. She was named first-team All-SEC during her sophomore campaign at Georgia, where she averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from the field. Prior to that, she was honored as the ACC Sixth Player of the Year in 2024 during her time with Georgia Tech and earned a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team.

The 3X Showcase and development camp will serve as a key evaluation opportunity for future USA Basketball 3x3 national team selection. For Carnegie and Heiden, this is more than just a camp—it's a chance to represent their country and build on the momentum of a thrilling season for Iowa women's basketball.
