Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta has made it clear that star defender Alessandro Bastoni is not going anywhere, despite growing interest from Barcelona. The 27-year-old Italian international has been identified as the Catalan giants' top priority to reinforce their backline this summer, but Marotta's latest comments suggest a deal won't be easy to pull off.

Barcelona, currently leading La Liga, are preparing to open talks with the newly-crowned Serie A champions over a potential transfer. However, Marotta has poured cold water on the speculation, emphasizing both the club's and the player's commitment to staying together at the San Siro.

"He's a talented player," Marotta told reporters, as quoted by GianlucaDiMarzio.com. "He's been unlucky in certain incidents; he was the one who made that naive mistake of simulation in the Inter-Juve match. He was the first to realize it. We've helped him, because when a young player makes a mistake, it's right that he's corrected but then put in a position to start afresh as if nothing had happened."

The Inter chief didn't mince words when addressing Barcelona's pursuit. "I believe he's a great champion; the eyes of prestigious clubs across Europe are on him, including Barcelona, but nothing concrete has materialized yet," Marotta added. "At the moment, Bastoni is our player; he wants to stay and we're happy to keep him with us."

This strong stance from Marotta echoes sentiments recently shared by Inter's sporting director, Piero Ausilio, who also insisted the club intends to retain Bastoni beyond the summer. For Barcelona fans hoping to see the commanding center-back in Blaugrana colors, these developments serve as a reality check—Inter are digging in their heels, and Bastoni appears content to remain a key figure in their defense.
