Bayern Munich will short of attacking personnel in their semi-final bout against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. Lennart Karl is ruled out for the first leg leaving Bayern thin in attack who are also without Serge Gnabry for the rest of the season.

Per a report by Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), 18-year-old Lennart Karl has made good progress after a injury to his right thigh earlier this month. However, the club has made a call to keep him out of the game in Paris as a precautionary measure. Bayern considers any premature return to the pitch too risky.

The youngster loves to dribble into tight spaces and does not shy away from taking shots. For Bayern, he has 1.16 goal involvements per 90 minutes so far in the Champions League. With Gnabry no longer available, Karl’s absence increases the burden on Jamal Musiala and leaving Vincent Kompany with very few options up front.

After making an electric start to his professional career, Karl was touted for the World Cup to be held in USA in the summer. And so, a measured return to the pitch is being favored to keep his chances alive for the WC as well as to avoid any reinjury. With Gnabry out of the biggest tournament in football, Germany will need a player of Karl’s talents.
