In a significant blow to the upcoming clay-court swing, world number one Aryna Sabalenka has been forced to withdraw from next week's prestigious Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart due to an injury sustained after the Miami Open.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the reigning Australian Open champion shared the disappointing news, stating, "Unfortunately, I suffered an injury after Miami, and even though I tried everything to recover in time, I am not ready to compete." Sabalenka did not specify the nature of the injury.

This withdrawal is a major setback for Sabalenka's momentum, coming off her historic "Sunshine Double" triumph where she captured back-to-back titles at Indian Wells and Miami. Stuttgart has been a bittersweet tournament for her; she has reached the final four times but has never claimed the winner's trophy, making this missed opportunity to finally break through on the German clay particularly poignant.

Despite Sabalenka's absence, the Stuttgart field remains a powerhouse event, showcasing the incredible depth of the WTA Tour. The entry list still features the other three members of the world's top four: 2024 Australian Open finalist and 2023 Stuttgart winner Elena Rybakina, two-time champion Iga Swiatek, and US Open champion Coco Gauff.
