With no need for a Last Chance Qualifying Round, IndyCar added another round to the May 17 final day of Indy 500 Qualfications with drivers competing to make the Fast 12.

IndyCar has revved up the excitement for the 110th Indianapolis 500 with a fresh qualification format, set to debut May 16-17. With exactly 33 cars vying for 33 spots on the starting grid, the traditional "Last Chance Qualifying" round is out—no bumping needed this year. Instead, drivers will face an extra round on Sunday to battle for a spot in the Fast 12, keeping the tension high as they chase pole position.

The action kicks off Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. ET, determining positions 16 through 33 for "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" on May 24. The nine fastest cars from Day One lock into Sunday's Top 12 qualifying session, earning a shot at the Firestone Fast Six and the coveted NTT P1 Award—starting from the pole on race day is the ultimate prize.

Sunday, May 17, brings the drama. Cars ranked 10th through 15th from Day One advance to the Final 15 round, where they'll fight for three remaining Top 12 spots. Each driver gets one four-lap attempt, starting in reverse order of their Saturday speeds (slowest first, fastest last). The three quickest move on to the Top 12 round at approximately 5 p.m., joining the nine pre-qualified cars in a high-stakes shootout. From there, the Fast Six emerge to decide the pole winner.

This tweak keeps the qualifying weekend intense and fan-friendly, ensuring every lap matters. Whether you're a die-hard IndyCar fan or just love the thrill of speed, this format promises edge-of-your-seat action at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Gear up for race day with the latest motorsport apparel—because every champion starts with the right look.
