The Indiana Fever are making final cuts as the 2026 WNBA season approaches, announcing Wednesday that they have waived three guards: Megan McConnell, Jessica Timmons, and Kayana Traylor.
All three players now enter the waiver wire, giving every team a chance to claim their contracts. If unclaimed, they will clear waivers and become unrestricted free agents, free to sign with any team.
With these roster moves, the Fever have reached the 12-player active roster limit. Notably, Justine Pissott—the team's second-round pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft—has already secured one of the Fever's two Player Development roster spots.
Under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), WNBA teams can now carry up to two additional players on Player Development spots. These players can be activated for a maximum of 12 games per season but can participate fully in practices and team activities year-round.
There's still a chance one of the waived guards could return. If they clear waivers, the Fever may sign one of them to their remaining Player Development roster spot.
Let's break down the trio:
Megan McConnell (5-foot-7 point guard) recently showcased her skills in Australia's WNBL, averaging 11.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. Her playmaking and versatility make her an intriguing option for teams needing backcourt depth.
Kayana Traylor (5-foot-9 guard) split time overseas and in Athletes Unlimited earlier this year, where she averaged 8.1 points and 2.5 assists per game. Her experience in different leagues shows adaptability.
Jessica Timmons (5-foot-9 guard) comes from an impressive senior season at Alabama, averaging 16.3 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 43% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc. Her sharpshooting could draw interest from teams looking for perimeter scoring.
As the Fever finalize their roster for the upcoming season, these moves highlight the tough decisions teams face in building a competitive squad under the new CBA rules.
