The Indiana Fever are optimistic about the return of rookie Justine Pissott, their second-round draft pick and development pool member, after she sustained a lower leg injury. Head coach Stephanie White shared an encouraging update on Saturday, noting that Pissott could be back on the court within roughly a week.

"We hope that she can be ready to at least get back on the court within a week or so," White said, following Pissott's medical appointments earlier in the week. "I'm not exactly sure, you know, where that lies. I think she's probably got some return appointments to make sure we can move forward."

White has not specified the exact part of Pissott's lower leg that is injured or when the injury occurred. When initially asked about the situation on Thursday, White explained that Pissott had been dealing with some issues, including a history of similar concerns during her college career. "She was going to see the doctor, so I don't know exactly what it is," White said. "It's early, so we'll take things as they come and make sure she gets the attention and time she needs."

Pissott was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft and was immediately assigned to the league's newly created development pool. Fever General Manager Amber Cox explained that this move was strategic: by placing Pissott in the development pool rather than signing her to a standard contract, the team protects their rights to her. If she were signed to a standard deal and later waived after training camp, she would have to clear waivers before the Fever could bring her back on a development contract—a risk they wanted to avoid.

For now, the Fever are taking a cautious approach, prioritizing Pissott's long-term health over a rushed return. As the team continues to build for the future, all eyes will be on the rookie's progress in the coming weeks.
