The FSU Seminoles are trying to make a move in Kamauri Whitfield's recruitment, and the in-state target has scheduled an official visit.

The Florida State Seminoles are making a strong push to secure the commitment of in-state cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, and the recruitment battle just got a lot more interesting. The three-star defensive back has scheduled an official visit to Tallahassee for June 9-10, signaling that FSU is back in the mix after a recent visit from safeties coach Evan Cooper.

Whitfield, who hails from Orlando, has a busy summer ahead with official visits lined up to several powerhouse programs. He'll kick things off with the Florida Gators on May 28, followed by trips to Oregon (June 5), Nebraska (June 12), and Virginia Tech (June 19). But the Seminoles are hoping to make a lasting impression during his June stop in Tallahassee.

While FSU originally extended a scholarship offer to Whitfield back on June 15, 2025, it's only recently that the coaching staff has turned up the heat in his recruitment. Whitfield has visited FSU multiple times in the past but hasn't been back this year—until now.

"It's always been my dream school to go to FSU," Whitfield shared. "But then it was just the last recruiting staff or whatever they had, they wasn't really recruiting me. But now they've got a whole new department, so now they're back in the conversation."

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Whitfield is rated as the No. 695 overall prospect and the No. 69 cornerback in the nation. He's also considered the No. 62 player in the talent-rich state of Florida, making him a key target for any program looking to bolster its secondary.

FSU currently has three defensive backs committed in its 2027 recruiting class, headlined by four-star safety Mekhi Williams—who could potentially play corner at the next level. However, there's some uncertainty surrounding Williams, as the LSU Tigers appear to be in a strong position to flip him. If Williams does decide to leave the class, FSU would be left with just three-star cornerback Dayon Cooper as its only commit at the position.

With Whitfield's official visit on the horizon, all eyes will be on Tallahassee to see if the Seminoles can land this in-state talent and solidify their secondary for the future.
