Kon Knueppel opened up about his Rookie of the Year candidacy, offering a candid and reflective take on a season that nearly earned him the league's top rookie honor. "Obviously, I wanted to win it," Knueppel admitted. "If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that this is how my year would go, I would have taken it one hundred percent."
The rookie's mindset on the morning of the announcement was surprisingly calm. "I went into the morning when they announced it thinking, 'I can't do anything about it now. I did all I could.'" He emphasized that his peace of mind came from knowing he left everything on the court. "I would have felt worse if I felt like I had left something out there, but I felt like I did all I could."
Knueppel acknowledged one area he wished he could improve: his shooting down the stretch. "Maybe I wish I could have shot it better at the end of the season, but I was willing to live with the result." Despite the close race, he remains proud of his performance. "I felt like I had a really good season. I felt like I was deserving. I would have won it in a lot of different years, and I thought Cooper was also very deserving."
This level-headed perspective is a reminder that even in a competitive rookie class, growth and effort matter just as much as the final trophy. For fans and aspiring players, Knueppel's attitude is a masterclass in handling both victory and defeat with grace—a quality that translates well beyond the hardwood and into everyday life.
